Halloween chills and thrills

The Bridgeview Park District has a host of activities planned in preparation for Halloween this season.

Halloween Tricks & Treats kicks off the fun with a class for children 6-9 from 6-7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 24. Cost is $12 per child and includes all supplies.

Kids will decorate a small pumpkin, make a treat and play a couple of games of candy bar bingo.

Costumes are allowed.

The Monster Mash Halloween Party returns on Saturday, Oct. 27, from 3:30-5:30 p.m.

There will be fun and games and costume judging for Most Original Costume, Scariest Costume, Funniest Costume, Best baby Costume and Best Adult Costume.

Light refreshments will be served before the kids head to Kids Safe City for trick-or-treating. Bring your own treat bag.

Cost is $4 per person.

Registration is required by Oct. 22.

Also, judging will take place at the Monster Mash for the annual free Scarecrow Stuffing Contest and the Pumpkin Decorating Contest.

Homemade scarecrows and carved or decorated pumpkins must be brought to the Park District by 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 26, to be eligible.

There will be People’s Choice awards for the top pumpkin and top scarecrow.

Ghost stories in the Park will be presented by the Bridgeview Library staff at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 30, under the pavilion at Commissioners Park.

This free event is for all ages and is held outdoors, so dress appropriately.
